| The Different Kung-fu Weapons |
Kung-fu weapons have been utilized for a very long time.
While monks used hundreds of different weapons in the past, kung-fu weaponry has 18 classic weapons styles. These are still taught today. These weapons include the sabre, spear, sword, halberd, axe, battle axe, hook, fork, whip, mace, hammer, talon, trident-halberd, cudgel, long-handle spear, short cudgel, stick and meteor hammer. Below you will find a brief description of the most popular and oft used weapons that are found in the kung-fu fighting style.
The staff is thought to be the first weapon used in the kung-fu fighting style.
The cudgel is often made of wood, but it can be made of metal as well. In the right hands it can be used to awesome effect. Cudgels can also be made into two-section or three-section cudgels.
The butterfly knife was originally used by monks in the south of China, and was originally created in the image of a butcher’s cleaver, except that the top of the knife can be turned so that the knife can be twirled around the users thumb.
The steel whip was, and still is extremely popular. It was easily concealed, which made it even more effective. It has multiple linked sections with a dart at the end. Learning the use of kung-fu weaponry can be fun, exciting and help a great deal in developing your hand-eye coordination. |
